Actor,
teacher and director –
these are the touchstones
of David's career in the theatre,
three strands that have combined over the years into
intensive areas
of creation and research:
An ongoing investigation into the nature of the creative moment in the work of the actor and, following the precepts of Michael Chekhov, investigating the unique symbiosis between the body and the imagination in training and performance.
A practical
application of theatre semiotics and principles of audience
perception in order to expand the potentials of imagistic
theatre.
The development
of a multi–facetted, time-fractured, flexible-stage
approach to the performance of tragedy on the post-modern
stage through radically adapted classics from Shakespeare,
Euripedes and Lorca, among others.
An innovative
application of techniques of physical theatre to classical
plays.
