The Surrealist Connection - Towards an Aesthetic of Surrealist Theatre
UMI, Ann Arbor, 1980. (PhD. dissertation, chosen by UMI for publication
in its Avant-Garde Series.)

An examination of the theatrical potential and the degrees and forms of its actual realization in the movements of the avant-garde from Jarry (1897) to the last major Surrealist exhibition in Paris, "directed" by Marcel Duchamps (1936). The last chapter looks at the ways in which this potential was indeed realized in the 60's and 70's of the 20th century.

Body Voice Imagination (Second Edition): ImageWork Training and the Chekhov Technique
Routledge, NY, April 2009
Following the success of the 1st edition which has virtually sold out, David, in consultation with Routledge, UK, has reworked and updated the book to reflect the developments in his work since its initial publication in 2002. Most importantly, David added an entirely new chapter on the seamless connections between his own ImageWork Training and the Chekhov Technique, and detailed descriptions of the ways in which he teaches and uses the major elements of the Technique in his training workshops and productions.
